It seems like it was just yesterday that I was wondering what the point of the Canada Line’s new ticket machines was.  Today, Drew from Translink explains that the new machines can do something fancy with those new bank cards with the chips in them.  This just shows what a total luddite I am.  I only found out about those new cards last week, when I was having dinner with some friends and they showed me their fancy new bank cards.  So what else do these new bank cards have?  Lasers?  Tiny robots?

Anyway, if the new machines can do important things that the old ones can’t, I hope this means Translink’s going to replace the old machines in the not-to-distant future.  Making people learn how to buy tickets twice really doesn’t make sense.
