So Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York, wants the MTA to stop collecting fares on crosstown buses. Those buses are really slow, and the idea is to cut down on the time it takes passangers to board, so the buses can get going faster.

Sound familiar?  If the MTA decides to do this, I bet they’ll discover it speeds up the buses a little bit, but that traffic, red lights, and drivers turning right at cross walks are the real obtacles to speed.
